I've decided to see the world a bit more and thought that I'd enjoy a nice frosty winter in Europe this year. I'll be flying into Amsterdam in late Nov and spending 12 weeks (20hr flight each way...
) Thinking of spending time in some combination of Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Poland, the Baltics and Norway. I'm a uni student btw so I don't haven't a lot of money, inhibitions or sense. I'll just have my carry on and will be travelling solo.
What I want to know from any of you European Nordlanders is:
-> how miserable is Europe in winter (particularly those countries I mentioned)?
-> What are cool things to do over winter? So far I'm thinking see Aurora Borealis, Christmas markets in Germany, FKK clubs in Germany, castles, beer, art, look at swords and tanks etc.
-> If you ski, where is best to ski in Europe? I've never done skiing before and don't have lots of money to spend on luxury ski resorts in the Alps. I want to do adventurous outdoor stuff where possible, doesn't have to be skiing.
-> My French is decent and my German is basic but improving. How easy will it be to pick up European babes in bars? lol
-> Where can I get the best beer?
-> Any other advice?
I thought since NoR is transitioning from CN-focus it could expand to travel advice.
